The History of Thunder JO Volleyball
In 1998, Burnsville Thunder is formed by Keith Mueller to provide the Burnsville area a higher-level volleyball experience as a traveling sport experience. The program had a leadership change in 2003 when Keith Mueller became commissioner. To further enhance the organization into a true club-style experience additional changes began in 2007. The organization became a proud member of the Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) as well as modified the ISD 191 volleyball net systems with special assistance from Keith Mueller, Ryan Dehnel, Jim Sorensen, Kevin Codner, & Jim Lorang through 2010.
In 2017, Cathy Murray becomes the commissioner. In 2018, the name transitions to Thunder JO Volleyball and an expansion beyond just players in the Burnsville area. Finally, in 2021, Jim Sorensen & Whitney Markson become the co-commissioners of Thunder JO Volleyball.
